What freedom-loving student wouldn't be outraged to discover that his high school science teacher is teaching a theory as indisputable fact, and that university professors unmercifully crush any fellow scientists who dare question the prevailing system of belief? This isn't the latest Hollywood comedy; it's a disturbing new documentary that will shock anyone who thinks all scientists are free to follow the evidence wherever it may lead. [...]

Ben Stein, the lovable, monotone teacher from Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Wonder Years is on a journey to answer one of the biggest questions ever asked: Were we designed or are we simply the end result of an ancient mud puddle struck by lightning? [...]

He discovers an elitist scientific establishment that has traded in its skepticism for dogma. But even worse, along the way, Stein uncovers a long line of biologists, astronomers, chemists and philosophers who have had their reputations destroyed and their careers ruined by a scientific establishment that allows absolutely no dissent from Charles Darwin's theory of random mutation and natural selection.
"Big Science in this area of biology has lost its way," says Stein. "Scientists are supposed to be allowed to follow the evidence wherever it may lead, no matter what the implications are. Freedom of inquiry has been greatly compromised, and this is not only anti-American, it's anti-science. It's anti-the whole concept of learning."

A-ha.

Unlike some other documentary films, Expelled doesn't just talk to people representing one side of the story. The film confronts scientists such as Richard Dawkins, author of The God Delusion, influential biologist and atheist blogger PZ Myers and Eugenie Scott, head of the National Center for Science Education. [...]

"The incredible thing about Expelled is that we don't resort to manipulating our interviews for the purpose of achieving the 'shock effect,' something that has become common in documentary film these days," said Walt Ruloff, co-founder of Premise Media and co-Executive Producer. "People will be stunned to actually find out what elitist scientists proclaim, which is that a large majority of Americans are simpletons who believe in a fairy tale. Premise Media took on this difficult mission because we believe the greatest asset of humanity is our freedom to explore and discover truth."

Überraschend nur, dass Eugenie Scott und PZ Myers ein ganz anderer Film ('Crossroad - the intersection of Science and Religion') genannt wurde, für den sie angeblich interviewt werden sollten, und nicht etwa dieser.

Aus dem Brief, den PZ Myers erhielt:

My name is Mark Mathis. I am a Producer for Rampant Films. We are currently in production of the documentary film, "Crossroads: The Intersection of Science and Religion." [...]
We are interested in asking you a number of questions about the disconnect/controversy that exists in America between Evolution, Creationism and the Intelligent Design movement.

Was Eugenie Scott unterschreiben musste:

Well, PZ, looks like you had the same experience I had. I also am willing to appear in productions that take a different side of an issue than I do, but I expect candor. My release says they can use “…footage and materials in and in connection with the development, production, distribution and/or exploitation of the feature length documentary tentatively entitled Crossroads…and/or any other production….”

Crossroads - The Intersection of Science and Religion:
It's been the central question of humanity throughout the ages: How in the world did we get here? In 1859 Charles Darwin provided the answer in his landmark book, "The Origin of Species." In the century and a half since, biologists, geologists, physicists, astronomers and philosophers have contributed a vast amount of research and data in support of Darwin's idea. And yet, millions of Christians, Muslims, Jews and other people of faith believe in a literal interpretation that humans were crafted by the hand of god. This conflict between science and religion has unleashed passions in school board meetings, courtrooms and town halls across America and beyond.

Hört sich doch ganz anders an als
His [Anm.:Ben Stein's] heroic and, at times, shocking journey confronting the world’s top scientists, educators and philosophers, regarding the persecution of the many by an elite few.

oder

But Science is different. In Science, there is no room for dissent, for dissent is dangerous. That is why we at Big Science simply refuse to allow it. Like dancing, “dissent” can lead to other things. [Anm.: Charles Darwin in den Mund gelegt]

oder

EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed is sure to stir up a lot of controversy and bring up a lot of important questions. It’s critical that we take a stand to fight for the truth. In EXPELLED Ben questions why all the Neo-Darwinists are so nervous right now. What are they so afraid of? That’s what I’d like to know, too. What are they hiding?

Wherever you are on the spectrum of belief, it’s critical that all students have as much information as possible in order to make the most informed decisions they can. This fight is about making sure we all have access to the truth.*

I mean, seriously, not telling one of the sides in a debate about what the subject might be and then leading him around randomly to various topics, with the intent of later editing it down to the parts that just make the points you want, is the video version of quote-mining and is fundamentally dishonest.

"The incredible thing about Expelled is that we don't resort to manipulating our interviews for the purpose of achieving the 'shock effect,' something that has become common in documentary film these days," said Walt Ruloff, [...]

Na, herzlichen Glückwunsch.

MfG,
JLT

EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed, is an upcoming feature film in which host Ben Stein (Ferris Bueller's Day Off) goes on a quest to expose the suppression by science's anti-theist elite, and unveil new scientific facts that may suggest evidence of intelligent design in the universe.

Along with the release of this highly controversial movie, we're launching a nationwide campaign LED BY THE YOUTH OF AMERICA to bring this debate into the public square, and impact what is taught in our schools.

Your youth can be key ambassadors to their peers to help them understand the academic suppression they're being subjected to, and the new evidence that shows that science and faith are compatible! Our goal is to stage a series of nationwide student-led debates on Neo-Darwinism and intelligent design at high schools and universities.

To accomplish this, we need to recruit young, articulate spokespersons. Please ask your youth to sign-up and be part of a nationwide campaign that will influence the future of our education.
